JA Masters Events and Lions Sports & Media announced today that the international friendly match between the national teams of Ecuador and Honduras will be played on Sunday, June 16, at 3:30 PM ET at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut.
The Ecuadorian National Team continues its preparation in the United States, thinking about Copa América 2024. After facing Bolivia on June 12 in Chester, Pennsylvania, the Ecuadorian team will challenge Honduras, an opponent of vital importance regarding the matches against Mexico and Jamaica in the group stage. The match pits two teams among the 100 best on the planet. Ecuador is ranked 44th, while Honduras is ranked 80th in FIFA.
Ecuador and Honduras have faced each other 18 times, with a record of seven wins for Ecuador, three wins for Honduras, and eight draws. The most significant match on record occurred in the 2014 World Cup, with Ecuador's 2-1 victory. Reinaldo Rueda, head coach of “la H,” will seek to break a streak until September 12, 2007, including eight games in which Honduras has been unable to defeat its counterpart from Ecuador. The Colombian coach, champion of the Copa Libertadores de América, led both teams in a World Cup. He did it with Honduras in 2010 and four years later with 'La Tri.'
